Gail, Question about Cassandra Cain

Can you please put Cassandra Cain in the new Birds of Prey? I am sure editorial has a lot to do with the decision but my heart is set on the blacked out character of the new Birds of Prey being Cassandra. I know she is not Batgirl anymore but she can take on another role and I hope it is with the Birds. You are the perfect person to breathe new life into the character after four years of awful characterization. I am huge fan.

Regardless, I can't wait to see the Birds fly again!

My question is how much exerience has Gail had writing Cass, and tied to this would she fit into the Birds dyamic that Gail will be striving to create. If she is a good fit - fine but I would not want her forced onto Gail if she throws off the vision. I also don't think DC's current plan for Cass is over - I think it is just a lull prior to her moving into her new role. Now are we going to like it or not is both an other question and the big unknown.

I'd be happy with this. Gail was the last person to effectively use Shiva, so if Cass fits in, sure. I'm hoping Cass goes off to train with Shiva, so this would be a good time to bring them both bakc in.

I don't trust Didio when he says they have plans for Cass - not even a little bit. He says a lot of things. Gail has written Cassandra in the Birds before and I trust Gail to write her well again. I agree though that Gail should put her on the team only if it fits - but I think it definitely would fit.

I'd like Cassie to show up in Batgirl. Or at least, when Bruce shows up, show up in some of the Bat-titles. I really do like her.

Kate's pretty awesome, as are Renee and Steph. No argument here. But Cass has such an interesting character arc, constantly battling with where she came from to make herself the hero she is today. And she's also a bit of color (literally) in the rather WASPy crowd that is the Batfam. I'm not saying that her only quality is that she's half-Asian, nor that she keeps her mother's features more than her dad's, but it's nice to see an ethnic character on the team. She's a unique addition to the Batfam, and she's a very strong character (when out of Beechan's hands).

I personally am hoping she comes back as Kasumi soon. I'd like to see her take an arc like Dick had, where she finally takes the time to step out of Bruce's shadow and discover who she is as a person.
