Default Jesse Quick--What are her powers?

Has Jesse lost her speed? If so, can anyone remind me when? Does she now have her mother Libby's powers and, again if so, is old Tom still at the Liberty Bell, ready to ring it when Jesse calls his cell? {Prof. Jonathan}

Default The loss of speed...

Now, this is the OYL DCU, and so something could've happened to reverse this in the missing year, but Jesse lost access to her speed during the Flash's first encounter with Zoom, in the storyline Blitz!. If memory serves, she still has occasional bursts of superstrength, something she got from her Mom.

Of course, anything could've happened during OYL.

I'm assuming the vague ending of JSA #81 somehow made Libby powerless, yet hooked her daughter up with powers.

If she's like her mom was, Jesse will have enhanced strength and reflexes, not unlike Stargirl.

No - those she was BORN with. What JSA #81 might gift her with is her mother's acquired sonic powers. (Note that most of the problem appeared to be haywire sonics.)

Y'know, this question wouldn't keep coming up if they hadn't cancelled the '92 JSA book in the first place.

Yup, Jesse has always had enhanced strength & reflexes, it's just that later writers only focused on her speed (which, since Waid was using her in Flash isn't unusual).

And even if old Tom hadn't been killed off in All-Star Squadron (around the same time Libby got her sonic powers) I doubt he'd still be around nowdays. He definitely wasn't around for Ian Karkull's chronal energy discharge (no matter how many times I say that I still chuckle).

Some day, I'll dig out my complete All-Star Squadron and read them front to back, to refresh my recollection of things like that. I still shudder to think about Alan Scott and the scene where he quotes from the Bhagavad gita, as per Robert Oppenheimer.

All-Star Squadron, in addition to having the least helpful abbreviation of any major comic run (*grin*), was the first title I collected completely from issue 1 (actually the preview story, if I remember correctly), and I still have a major fondness for it. {Prof. Jonathan}

On a related note, does anyone know whether Jesse and her mother have reconciled OYL? I didn't follow the previous JSA series, but I remember they weren't on the best of terms in Flash and Titans.

Not that I am aware of....OYL sucked for JSA and didnt resolve anything but a re-told origin of the Gentleman's Ghost.

More or less. At the last thanksgiving book they were behaving pretty much, except Libby kept trying to push jesse together with Rick(gee wonder how that worked out?).

Then during crisis Jesse showed up to try helping her mom even though she no longer had any powers(that she knew of anyway.).

I want Jesse to regain her speedforce powers, since she was originally established as a speedster. She could make herself be known as Liberty Belle if she wants to, but I hope she gets her speed powers back.

She also needs a major costume overhaul. the one she's wearing in JSA looks outdated. Jesse's never really good in the costume department.

I LOVE her in the liberty belle outfit, but yeah it'd be cool if she at least got some of her speed back.

Maybe she could use it in different ways since she now seems to be taking after mom as well.
