To be fair this is actually a percentage of average comic readership. Not a decimal of a percentage, a whole number.

Hell, the internet is practically a soap box where anyone and their mammy can spout off about anything.

Nope only about 1/3rd of them. On some of the various Earths:
1. TJ died in the great disaster
2. Was devoured by vampires
3. Was so happy he couldn't protest anything
4. Was renumbered to TJ #600 and then rebooted virtually once a year.
5. Pretty sure the TJ on the Wildstorm Earth not only boycotted, but launched a bloody war that resulted in the deaths of millions. Just sayin'.

Wow, you just made me feel sorry for ALL 52 Monitors!

The fact that a huge chunk of those 130+ protesters will buy the books anyway means that they're NOT standing for what they believe.

Goodness gracious me, maybe it won't be the way you think it will. Sure, it could. But, on the other hand, it might be different from what you described. Why, it could be that they'll all behave in a good-natured, entertaining way, and that their antics will be comically and/or pathetically endearing to the passers-by, enhancing the convention experience for everyone. Granted, the likelihood of that is comparatively low, but...the point remains. We can all say, "Oh, I'm sure that 'this' is what will happen, and that's bad, and we should totally speak out against it." But until...that thing we're all talking about here...occurs, we don't know how it'll go down.

I mean, gosh, surely it isn't fair to just assume that things are going to go a certain way before they actually happen, preemptively decide that you dislike it, and condemn it before even seeing what it's like.

That would just be nutty, wouldn't it?

Your powers of sarcasm and your ability to point out irony/hypocrisy are overwhelming, or mighty swami. I offer a burnt offering to Kali in your honor, oh great yogi.

Golly, I see it more like this:

DC Exec: "oh man looks like a small group of people are protesting what were doing with our comics, quick...give them the leftover copies of Outsiders we've been sitting on."

Protesters: "EEEEEEEEE! Free comics! We LOVE DC now!"

Seriously, I wish people would just shut up and put their money where their mouths are instead, because whining and bickering back and forth goes nowhere.

Exactly. Or if the goal is simply to make themselves feel better, do what we did with Casstoons (and Booyah did with Bootoons to counter us); come up with an artistic way to express your frustrations. I think art is the most effective form of protest anyways.

Are we talking Time Warner or DC, though? I imagine the Green Lantern movie has left a few people at DC very worried about their role in the company. If the relaunch falls on its face, two back-to-back disasters like that will probably encourage a lot of restructuring within the company.

It's simple, just have a bunch of hot models show up dressed like DC's superheroines to sign autographs and flirt them. The protest will be over in 2.3 seconds.

Unfortunately, that particular Earth was destroyed in a nuclear holocaust triggered by the mass uprising of posters who were enraged by TJ being made a mod. It triggered the ComicBloc Self Destruct Device.

Unfortunately, some of us can't resist the urge to tinker with things, and I guess I put way too much Plutonium in it. OOPS doesn't even begin to cover it when you've blown up your particular Earth. SIGH.

The Lesson. TJ as a mod = Nuclear Holocaust.

Bears + Plutonium = Bad, Bad, Outcome.

No, when we've had too many fermented berries the media tells folks to stay out of the woods to avoid the killer fogs.
