Features Indy Spotlight Indy Spotlight: Cover Girl Joshua Pantalleresco (Joshua Pantalleresco) 11 Mar 08

ImageBodyguard and buddy stories for the most part have become very cliche. Usually, in bodyguard stories, it’s the real tough guy protecting a kid or some super hot woman. (Not that I’m against that kind of thing.) They are usually very fun stories, but for the most part, they have a definite been there done that kind of feel to them.

Buddy stories have for the most part been done to death, as well. That said, I confess to enjoying them. Some of the best action movies I’ve seen feature some of the oddest couples in history. The Lethal Weapon series in particular is one of those kind of action flicks that I really enjoy. This next book combines these two concepts into something very enjoyable.

Features Interviews A Brand New Dynamic, speaking with J. Torres Doug Zawisza (Doug Zawisza) 29 Feb 08

ImageJ. Torres is a name most comic fanss and DC comic fans in particular, are familiar with. He’s contributed to Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle for the main DCU line of titles and he’s also been a staple of the Johnny DC line, crafting tales for The Batman Strikes, The Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century and most notably Teen Titans Go! His most recent work has been a six-issue Wonder Girl mini featuring Cassie Sandsmark. That’s not to say he’s gonna stop there.

Features Interviews Inside the Comic Writer's Studio: Greg Pak Eric Moreno (Eric Moreno) 25 Feb 08

ImageWelcome everyone to the latest installment of Inside the Comic Writers Studio. We’re trying to get back on track in 2008 and time is a-wastin’!

This week’s guest first burst onto the mainstream comic book scene with his take on Adam Warlock and it was not long before Marvel Comics realized that had a rising star on their hands. He is the man and the mind behind the renaissance of Marvel’s Jade Giant, with Planet Hulk and World War Hulk, is an award-winning filmmaker and a fellow Texan to boot! This time out I am joined by the brilliant Mr. Greg Pak. Over the course of this conversation, we talk about Robot Stories, why he is writing comics instead of out saving the world and his “alter ego.” So, without further ado …

Features Interviews Zango Speaks! Joshua Pantalleresco and Rob Osborne 16 Feb 08

ImageI really enjoyed my recent interview with Rob Osborne, the creator of The Nearly Infamous Zango and eagerly anticipate his new comic. However, one individual demanded that I interview as well.

Zango—or Lord Zango as he prefers it—craved the same attention that his creator had recieved. With an evil gorilla with scissors pointing menacingly at me, I conceded to interview Zango in the comfort of his own home.

I have to say though, he’s not as intimidating as I remembered him. Maybe it was watching Zango scarf down some caramel popcorn or that he was wearing a house coat and bunny slippers. Or, maybe it was the fact that he was sleeping on the couch before Deacon Dread promptly woke him up for the interview.

Features Interviews The Arrival of Zango: An Interview with Rob Osborne Joshua Pantalleresco 15 Feb 08

ImageRob Osborne is the genius behind such books as a 1000 Steps to World Domination and Sunset City. Last year I had the chance to get a glimpse at one of the funniest things I’ve ever read with the online debut of The Nearly Infamous Zango. The book is funny and has one of the most absurd takes on a supervillain I’ve ever had the privilege to see.
